Reiki
Reiki is an ancient therapy re-discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the mid 1800's. He was the dean of a Christian college in Japan.
Dr. Usui practiced Reiki healing and taught others the healing art as well.
There are now many variations of Reiki. As a Reiki Master Ms. Adam is in the direct linage of Dr. Usui and Mrs. Takata, who brought Reiki to America.
Reiki is a non-invasive,gentle holistic therapy. There is no contraindication with other healing modalities. Reiki therapy allows a clients energy flow to be opened and balanced,thereby helping our bodies rejuvenate.
Here are some common questions about Reiki.
1. What are some reasons a person might seek Reiki therapy ?
There are many reasons. Some of the most common are stress, pain, fatique, insomnia, stiffness, fibromyalgia, menstural difficulties, headaches, lack of energy and stamina, high bloodpressure, skin conditions, overall well-being, ADHD, mild Alsheimers, focus, improving sports performance.
2. How old do you have to be to receive Reiki treatments ?
There are no age restrictions.
3. Will I notice a difference after one treatment ?
Most clients notice a sense of deep relaxation,pain reduction and a feeling of being 'rested' after the first treatment. However,there is no guarantee. Each case is unique, each person different. The benfits of Reiki are cummulative, so most clients feel a more pronounced effect after 2 or 3 sessions.
4. What can I expect during a Reiki session ?
During the therapy the client should be dressed comfortably. Loose, soft clothing is best.
The Reiki practioner will create a relaxed enviroment for the client, usually with natural or dim lighting and soft background music.
The client may be seated comfortably or may use a therapy table to recline on. Or those who are in hospitals or home-bound, their own bed is the best choice.
A treatment is typically an hour. Most clients find they sleep lightly during this gentle therapy. You maybe covered by a light sheet or blanket for your comfort.
You will be fully clothed so wear loose clothing, nothing tight or restrictive.
Your practitioner will be a vessel for universal energy to flow through their hands to you. This will be accomplished by light touch, making Reiki an excellent choice for anyone with Fibromyalgia or similar conditions.
5. What can I expect after treatment ?
After a treatments clients report increased awareness, pain reduction, greater flexibilty, stress relief, increased creativity, greater stamina and relaxation, emotional release. A sense of well being and feeling rested and refreshed.
